phoenixjen Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I had a similar issue with a recent post for what I need help for now. I have a heart shape and want to fill it with a flag. I made a flag with vector shapes (see file below). I tried using 'Paste Inside' to get the flag inside the heart but that didn't work when I uploaded it to Cricut Design Space. I followed a tutorial from a gal I follow on Youtube and her heart was a 'compound' I can't get mine to be a compound (my heart was created with the shape tool). The flag that she copied on to her file showed each layer that were curves (see screenshot below). I made a flag (see file below) and I can't get mine to be curves (per color). Any advice on what I'm doing wrong? Also once I get MY flag file to be curves I need to know how to get it to go inside the heart using the 'subtract' function. I am including all of my files. The one I am trying to get be my final (Land that I Love), the flag screenshot of the person who I was following her tutorial and my flag file I made so I could use my own work to put inside my heart. American Flag1.afdesign It looks perfect (😃) but when I upload it to Cricut Design Space it says it clipping paths are not supported. If you look at this part of the youtube, this is what I want to do. Quote
firstdefence Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Ungroup all the stars and the white stripes, select all the stars and white stripes and either Geometry Add them or Layer > Geometry > Merge Curves Ungroup the Red stripes and either Geometry Add them or Layer > Geometry > Merge Curves // You should now have three layers that make up your flag // Create a heart, position it over the flag and duplicate it so you have 3 hearts. Arrange the layers as in the screenshot, just makes it easier as you do the next geometry task Select the heart and the layer below it and use Geometry: Intersect, repeat for the other heart and curve sets You should end up with this Final step is to duplicate the stars and white stripe layer and Geometry: Subtract it from the Blue curve White layer coloured to show the result I used SVG for export and successfully imported it into Cricut Design Space Alfred 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... Thank you so much. I think my problem is I am grouping things not merging curves. Little by little I am getting this! Jenny Quote
