Affinity photo constantly quits on iPad

I recently downloaded Affinity photo for my iPad Air 3. I cannot perform any project as the app would quit while any task on an existing project. This is very annoying as the progress of the project is not saved automatically.

Whenever an iPad misbehaves, the first thing to try is closing all open apps then performing a Forced Restart as described halfway down this article.
