Les ONeill Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 New document, enter amount of pages (lets say 20) no pages are added to the pages panel? i.e. the doc opens with 1 page? (Mac OS 10.9..5) Quote
thomaso Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 (edited) It never happened to me that the requested amount of pages did not occur, neither via "New…" nor later via Pages Panel. Can you upload a screencast (cmd-shift-5) demonstrating this, including "New..." dialog until opened document with Pages Panel? Les ONeill Posted June 27, 2021 Author Posted June 27, 2021 Tried tabbing out of field, made no difference. This is on a 27" iMac (AMD Radeon HD 6970) with 16 Gb's of ram running Mavericks. Am attaching screencast as confirmation the problem exists. Thanks for your attention. Cheers Les Adding pages.mov Quote
thomaso Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 What Affinity version(s) have you installed /did you demonstrate? There are 3 spots in your UI which appear obviously different to me on mac in v193. Also the UI font looks rather like a different platform or OS: >> . >> Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6
Les ONeill Posted June 27, 2021 Author Posted June 27, 2021 I made the movie as a partial screen capture to make it smaller (it's cut off from the bottom - so don't worry about that ratio). Other than that, it's a clean install of 1.93 on OS 10.9.5, Designer, Publisher and Photo Quote
Old Bruce Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Couple of things came to me with your movie. The Presets icon is ... funny looking. I would try resetting the A4 preset by clicking on it. Wosven Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Perhaps @Les ONeill's just using a different skin (windows manager) on his OS. It was possible ten years back to do so after being fed up of the same UI for years... Trying to disable it and check if the Affinity apps behave normally can be a test. If it's not the problem, it need further investigation. Quote
Les ONeill Posted June 28, 2021 Author Posted June 28, 2021 No skins, just a bog standard install of Mac OS 10.9.5. But to add to the conversation, I installed Publisher on my work computer running Catalina (Mac OS 10.15.7) and everything works as expected which leads me to believe it's a problem that exists with Affinity on Mavericks and they probably need to update their system compatability info. Thanks for everyone's input Quote
Staff Pauls Posted June 28, 2021 Staff Posted June 28, 2021 I've added this report to the issue Quote
thomaso Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 @Pauls do Affinity apps for different OS versions within 1 platform indeed have different UI, e.g. buttons as text versus buttons as icons? (menu "New…" –> "Orientation") Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6
Staff Pauls Posted June 28, 2021 Staff Posted June 28, 2021 not different per say - but compatibility issues do crop up Quote

This snippet (from Wikipedia) might give some context: "The primary system font in OS X El Capitan and above is San Francisco. OS X Yosemite used Helvetica Neue, and preceding versions largely employed Lucida Grande." Quote

Besides the font it's more the different buttons which made me wonder. Does Mavericks show a text version only while later macOS may use the icon instead? A limitation caused by macOS? And what about other UI icons like in tools and bars? – That's why I asked if Affinity would have several UI versions embedded in its app resources.
