no symbols panel Mac OS 10.11 Publisher 1.9.3

I specifically bought this app because of the symbols panel, as I want to use it for UX wireframes. But can't find it anywhere and there's nothing about a symbols panel in any documentation I can find. Found some earlier posts about this with no definitive solutions.

As stated you'll get the Symbol inside the Designer Persona. Maybe Serif should change the feature list to explain more obviously, that you need Affinity Designer for the Designer Persona and Affinity Photo for the Photo Persona.

From the help files: The Designer Persona and Photo Persona come directly from Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo, respectively. As such you need to have one or both apps purchased and installed to take advantage of that Persona. The options are unavailable otherwise.

If you do not own Affinity Photo and / or Affinity Designer I would buy it / them now with 50% off.

Ah, got it! Was not at all obvious. Seems the only place to find this information (designers persona) is on the sales page. (Which I didn't see when I double-checked the sales page... scrolled down too far.)

Affinity is mind-blowingly thorough in the apps... but pretty sparse from what I've seen in terms of actual documentation or in-app help.
