Hi,

I came across this today while working on some seamless patterns for styles. Had me puzzled for a while (wondering why it was not scaling in proportion). I am not sure whether it is one of my mad workflow issues or a bug in the process... But I flagged it anyway!

NB:The original symbol pattern had several extra layers to mix patterns. I stripped them out to see what the issue was so the image below is a simplified version.

In the original pattern I created several versions stacked as layers to create an outline/inset effect of the same compound shape. Making use of the new fantastic Contour Tool...something I use a lot! When I tried scale the containing rectangle object (detached symbol) with layered patterns the infill shapes were 'overrun' by the larger shapes. With a bit of investigation I realised the 'Contour'  - 'unbaked' objects scaled differently from a simple compound shape creating the distortion.

I've just tried this and found that the baked objects were actually the larger when the containing rectangles which seems to be the opposite you're getting?

That said however I would expect them to be different sizes, as you've baked one lot its actual curve is larger than the one with the contour, and as these are getting scaled they will be scaled unevenly by a certain percentage and not an absolute distance. Also worth noting as well that the contour is an absolute amount so that will always be the same value applied to the resulting object no matter what the size. For example if I applied a Contour of 5mm, scaled my object right down (say from 50mm to 5mm) it will still be applying a 5mm contour at both of these sizes.

I've attached the file I was using to look at this - the red dots have a baked 3mm contour, where as the blue are the original shape with the 3mm contour.

Sorry I should have added the file...

The pattern is a compound. I just found it easier to deploy the Contour Tool. Sometimes I get a few artefacts but that has been reported..

It is an inset of -0.4mm. When I bake the size is reduced and then scales correctly inside the rectangle.

If I don't bake, scaling the container gives you a different result. I am not suggesting it should change!.. It is easy to avoid (just bake) but the object becomes destructive! The absolute amount is probably what I am seeing.. Thanks for the clarification!:)

I will just have to remember to cook it when I want to edit the pattern!
