pmcabinet Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Is it possible to edit a shape - rectangle, say - to create an irregular quadrilateral? I can anchor one corner and 'push' the shape into any parallelogram, but it's always constrained, whereas I want a rectangle in perspective form, i.e with four unequal sides. Can it be done (reasonably simply!) in Designer? Can two or more corners of a rectangle shape be anchored at once? Suggestions (polite!) very much appreciated. Quote
firstdefence Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 You can convert the rectangle to a curve and use the node tool (A) to pull the shape you want with the individual nodes. walt.farrell Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 You could also consider the trapezoid tool, @pmcabinet, and skew it. pmcabinet Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Oh, that's very cute! I'm about to try both methods - will report in due course. Many thanks for your interest. Quote
pmcabinet Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Both methods work nicely and simply. I think the keys I was missing are: 1. Convert to curves, in firstdefence's method. 2. The double arrows (skew) hidden between the rotate and linear arrows, in walt.farrell's method. Both will be put to good use in future; thanks to you two again. walt.farrell and firstdefence 2 Quote
GarryP Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 In addition to the above advice you can also use the Node Tool to manipulate multiple nodes together in different ways. See attached video for some examples – experimentation will give you lots more possibilities. Also, you can use the Pen Tool to create an irregular shape without having to manipulate a rectangle (end of video). 2021-06-24 08-35-49.mp4 walt.farrell 1 Quote
