William Overington Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/144609-an-experiment-with-brushes/ Here is the .afbrush file with two brushes. The one with the vertical lines at the right is defined to convey the following message. The colour is red. The one with the diagonal line from upper left to lower right is defined to convey the following message. The colour is green. The idea is that they are used in vector mode so as to produce lines in black with the idea that someone who has problems discerning red from green might find them useful. An Affinity Designer .afdesign file with such lines could have the brush used for the lines changed later to show the colours. I am not a clinician, this is just a hobbyist designer trying an idea. These brushes are just a first try. I can change the designs and add more brushes in the light of any experience gained. Readers are welcome to add images and comments to this thread please. walt.farrell Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Why would anyone want a brush that just made a mark that says "this is red" or "this is green"? How will anyone know that is what the brush mark means? If the brush is only going to say one thing, wouldn't it be easier to just have that design as an Asset, that one could drag to the canvas? I wondered if someone were unable to tell red from green that it might possibly be useful. Someone else could later change the brush to an ordinary brush of the desired colour. Maybe the brushes are of no practical use, but I thought it might be a good idea to try them out and have a think of how they might be useful. Maybe in some way for a person who cannot distinguish red from green to communicate. 46 minutes ago, walt.farrell said: How will anyone know that is what the brush mark means? Well there would be a user guide. Due to my present lack of knowledge of this, I don't actually understand what you mean. William Quote Until December 2022, using a Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 in England.
