While using Affinity - I selected 3 photos from my photos library (Apple MacBook), but Affinity chose almost 700 in what appears random order. When I deleted these they were also deleted from my Photos Library. I was able to recover them - the path is:   Library > resources > derivatives > 7.   However I cannot access these via my Mac.  How do I truly recover them so I have access to them.

Do you mean the path was in the Photos Library.photoslibrary folder? If so, items in that folder should never be opened directly in any app, Finder included. The Apple Photos app manages everything in that folder. If anything is deleted from it other than by Apple Photos that can cause data loss.

The only thing I can suggest is trying to repair the photos library.
