hollyvgk
When I save a file, there is only an Affinity Designer icon showing. Is there a way to save files so that I can actually see the image?
walt.farrell
Assuming that you are saving them with the thumbnail (which is set on by default, in Preferences, General), the next question would be where are you saving them? If you save them in OneDrive I believe there is a known issue that for some reason File Explorer won't show Affinity thumbnails in the OneDrive folder. I checked Preferences;General and the thumbnail option was checked. I am just saving them in a folder that I saved to my desktop. 😔
Staff Lee D Posted June 24, 2021 Staff Share Posted June 24, 2021 Hi @hollyvgk, If you're saving files to a folder, when you open the folder in Windows Explorer, what is the View set to? As Medium, Large or Extra Large should provide a preview of the file, the others will display the app icon.
AlanPickup
Though it is not obvious if you look at file explorer One Drive does synchronise your desktop, hence Affinity files will not show the thumbnails. However if you save the file to a folder created outside of onedrive i.e. created directly on your C drive or other internal driv not connected to onedrive the thumbnali will appear when using icons in the view type. Example below of a folder I created on desktop to send a test file to Affininty. I opened the file saved the file to my internal H drive then moved it back to the desktop folder by dragging Quote Alan Pickup Windows 11 Home all Affinity suite of Apps PC and Gigabyte Laptop 16gb Ram and Nvidia GTX1660 Super on each. hollyvgk
I changed the "view" in the folder, and still just icons. And to respond to the next advice: I'm not 100% sure that these are not on One Drive, but I don't think so.....?
fernand0n
I've just encountered the same problem myself. Fixed it my turning off the feature "Files On-Demand" on Onedrive.

Galwin
OK Testing both Affinity Designer and Photo at this time. I still have the same issue as with InkScape and others. When I save / Export a file as a SVG I get a wonky thumbnail place holder and can not see the actual saved files thumbnail. As I can be working with up to 200 Photo files at a time this makes it very hard to do a on sight comparison using the thumbnails saving a lot of time opening and closing files. Windows 10 OS 63Bit sys have files to view as Large Icons as well. Saving files to internal F drive, I do not have cloud or one drive even activated at this time. Suggestions? If I can not get this to show the actual thumbnails in SVG format then the programs are useless to me so will not be buying it. Thank goodness for trial versions to test it out first. How does this relate to Affinity apps and their *.aphoto files, where you see the preview.? dre.
Same issue here, not fixed in V2. If COREL can get this to work, why can't AFFINITY??? All my old coreldraw files have previews but NONE of my affinity files have previews, just pink or blue icons for designer and photo.
