So, I did this on one project and I'm trying to recreate it on another but can't find what I did the first time... beginner luck I guess!

Can somebody help me with this?

I would like to change the color of the text that goes over the orange line.

Which Affinity applications do you have available?

And is that truly text, or is it an image of text? (That is, is it a separate layer that is a text layer of its own?)

There are various ways, also depending on the app & the type of objects, as Walt pointed out.

One way would use a copy of the text clipped by the according object (or area selection) and a fill color as wanted.

Hi Walt and Thomaso,
Thanks for your answers :)

I have Affinity Designer and Photo, both the latest version on PC.

The text is currently a layer of its own (I tried to convert it to curve as well, without much success)

Thomaso, I've tried to copy the text and clip it with the form, but I guess there is something I'm doing wrong.

the best result I got so far is by using this tool:

The text and the shape merge but it does not do what I did before (I don't know why the overlapping letters are switching colors :/) :

@BLAntoine, If you want to choose the color of the parts on the ring, in Designer you can select the text, "Convert to Curves", "Ungroup" and then "Add". Then select the text and the ring, "Divide". You can then put the color (or colors) you want to the parts on the ring.

Hello, Have you tried changing the blend mode of your text layer. this will give you a lot of different options.

I'm not sure how to do that, so I guess I didn't :P
I'll loot it up!

I just tried that actually but

1: the "n" disappears

2: When I'm trying to color the "A", the red triangle in the middle get colored as well (no matter if I select both curves or just one)...

Select both parts of the letter (the eye and the body) and press "Xor".

oups... dump me... that make perfectly sense!
But do you know why did I lost the N in the process?

*** And I'm not sure how to do the "Add" step that you mentioned

Is the N simply unchecked in the layers? This happens when you select several layers with the "SHIFT" key.

Actually I tried without converting to curve, so it still part of the text layer

Now I'm trying to convert to curve, ungroup and add... but I don't know how to add

Do you have a source file (*.afdesign or *.afphoto) for this project?

@BLAntoine,

I don't really know what exactly you are trying to achieve with this. Going by the title "Changing text colour over shape" I figured this is what you are after.

Here is my take on this. It is done with text layers and a masking/clipping layer. I have hidden most of the objects in your original file and added my layers to it.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
