Do Child Parent Masks Work On Strokes?

Hello I'm new to all this so sorry if this is a stupid question, but like the title says do parent child mask constraints works on stroke? I can't seem to get it to show up on them. As you can see in the picture below it's only showing on the fill (light green) and not the strokes (darker green) am i missing something here? Also worth noting I'm on the free trail of Affinity Designer.

What you are doing is clipping the curve shape using the seaweed but it uses the fill to do the clipping, the stroke would need to be expanded see example below for one way of doing this, there may also be other ways but this is what I worked out from playing for a few mins.

Guess that's just the nature of vector lines in this program. Thanks for the suggestions it seems to have done the trick!

Sample with stroke curves only (not expanded). Both ways of nesting result in a parent layer showing the stroke clipped to its masking object.
So this way requires copies of the unmasked strokes, too.
