spinhead Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 I create multicolor designs, and then variations where each color is replace by something different. Saved my sanity when I discovered the colored layer tags to let me choose all the layers of a color and replace all at once. Sometimes, though, I use more than 9 colors, and end up with two no-color groups blended together. It's not the end of the world; it's rare, and workable when it happens. But if there's a way to add a couple more color tags for layers, it would be most helpful. Quote
spinhead Posted June 22, 2021 Author Posted June 22, 2021 d'oh. Names. Name layers instead of or in addition to tagging with colors. I've seen that option for, like, ever, and didn't even think to look at it. Carry on folks. Nothing to see here. (But glad for any work-organization tips in this regard.) iuli and Old Bruce 1 1 Quote
walt.farrell Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 If you're using Designer, you might also investigate the new Select > Select Same > Fill Color. Or possibly use Global Colors? iuli 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. spinhead Posted June 22, 2021 Author Posted June 22, 2021 I'll read up on Global Colors, but I have a keyboard shortcut for swapping between AP and AD so I can create, switch, and use the Select Same Fill Color and do even less work. Thanks once again, @walt.farrell walt.farrell 1 Quote

For (Layer) layers. – Open end, even spot colors, Pantone included, add noise if you like … 😉 Seriously, I haven't used this before. Though I can assign colours I can't make the "Select Same Tag Color" feature work correctly with them. It insists to select some layers with different colors, no idea why. – Is there something special to know about "Select Same Tag Color"? ... So, this "Select Tag Colour" option ignores Layer colors + there is no such search/select for Layer colors , – correct? However, what's happening here, what causes the red tag colour selection in this case? The different situation at the end of the clip seems clear: layers without tag are selected. – But why the red before? select tag color - none vs red.m4v Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6

thomaso Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Looks like a buggy conflict: Though the cloud image layer shows a red tag colour as its picture frame, according to the color list it has none applied and behaves like none. I can't reproduce the issue somewhere else but this can be copied with its Layer layer to another document. v193 select tag colour.afpub Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6

Create a Picture Frame, Place an image in it. Right-click on the Picture Frame layer and give it a tag color. Both the Picture Frame and the image layer within it get that tag color according to the Layers panel, just as you show. Right-click on the image layer and the context menu shows the image layer has no color tag.
