As a potential new user exploring the trial I am honestly very surprised at the extremely poor quality of antialiasing on the pixel brush (basic, round) and marquee tools. There may well be other areas with the same issue I've not yet seen.

Brush hardness settings above 95%, and the marquee tools are currently unusable for me. They are frequently used tools - and so this issue makes AP almost totally useless as a digital editing / retouching tool for me.

I'm really am scratching my head about this. You have a software with some excellent advantages over your major competitor - but with a very fundamental issue. I would have thought that would have been a top priority to fix.

The analogy:  You've developed a top athlete who has incredible performance, skills and technique. Unfortunately he doesn't know how to tie his boot laces...

Any improvement to this area in the new 1.10 release?
I can't check directly as I'm holding back purchase due to this and I've had a previous expired trial...

I think the trial versions have all been reset as of 1.10 as it's soooooooooooooo improved, as regards speed, they want you to try it again, just in case you were disappointed the first time

Go to the Affinity website and try to download/install the trial again

Let us know how you get on (just in case I dreamt the above)

Unfortunately I don't believe this is the case, I believe they were planned to be reset, but have not been in this update.

We'll keep you updated if the next version does reset the trials :)

Unfortunately I said in one thread yesterday that they had been reset, as this is what I had been told at the time - however I've since edited that post to remove the incorrect information, so my apologies if this was the origin!

No need, it was the supreme commander Ash Hewson on the original version of the "latest update" page, which can be found here...

Thanks for the info guys. I'd actually just downloaded the 1.10 version to see if the trial had reset - prior to posting. Unfortunately it 'repaired' my previous trial I'd forgotten to delete, and then told me my trial had expired... : (

I'll delete the apps and see if I have any luck with a full reinstall...

@Mike_A,

What OS are you running? If Windows, when you uninstall an app, the uninstaller leaves things behind. This is noticeable when you uninstall a version then install the next update, and see that you still have brushes, preferences from the previous install. This is what I occasionally do;

After uninstalling, I then go to the Program Data>Affinity(Photo, or whatever App), Program Files>Affinity (again whatever App), AppData>UserName>Roaming>Affinity (Photo, Designer, or Publisher) folder and delete the version that I just uninstalled. Then I install the updated version. This will remove the preferences, brushes, ect, and essentially be a complete clean install. If it's a Paid-for (retail) then you will need your serial number handy, as it will ask for it.

I know with TBYB (trial) versions, they install some info buried deep in the OS and/or Registry, that can only be removed with a full clean wipe of the hard drive. Also with the retail versions, they probably record info of your system on their end to prevent piracy.

But since Serif does or has allowed this reset, having the residual files/folders, could be what caused the expiration trigger.
