The place tool is very powerful for importing multiple images into a document, they can be placed one after the other in the document. This can be good for importing images which can then be added to the asset libraries.

It would be very useful if we could have an option to place multiple compatible images directly into the asset library for the purpose of building our own libraries for personal use.

Maybe an import images to directly to an asset library option could be included. Then we would have a reserve graphics library similar to the ones that were available in Pageplus.

You can already open Windows Explorer (and, probably, Finder on Mac), select multiple files, and drop them on the Assets panel.

Be aware, though, that all the images you put into Assets end up in one file, assets.propcol, which can grow very large. This can impact performance, and also makes the Assets panel somewhat fragile. If you're adding or deleting assets and something goes wrong, you'll probably lose all your assets and have to restore the file (or the individual categories) from backups.

That must be why PagePlus had a separate graphics library which you could import selected assets into. I realised that one would have to be selective on which assets to install due to speed and memory usage. Maybe a separate graphics library to import from may be a better option.

It is a shame that the media library idea has been dropped.

It has not been dropped. It was not implemented yet, just like many other features.

I admit it is unclear if this will come at some time in the future 🙂
