fgmike
I haven't purchased the Affinity application just yet. I am looking to create a couple of sports posters by creating a layer of an action shot, and then put it on a created background, which application would suit me the best? The Affinity Designer or the Affinity Photo. Thanks in advance.
Paul Bravery
Hi fgmike, Welcome to the forum. :) If you prefer to heavily manipulate photos & montage/layer them, then Affinity Photo is probably the best fit because it leans more towards what you would do in Photoshop. It's difficult to make a fair comparison, because of its superior vector handling features. Affinity Designer leans more toward what you would do with Illustrator, except that it has superior pixel editing features. I use both apps, because they integrate very closely with each other & I might want to start with opening a RAW camera file in Photo, adjust it's appearance & then continue editing in Designer to add complex vector shapes as part of the design. It wouldn't hurt you to get Affinity Photo first & then Affinity Designer if you find you also need its feature set. Hope this helps. Staff MEB Posted October 29, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 29, 2015 Hi fgmike, If you want to edit/improve or do composite work with images/photography Affinity Photo is the best choice. If you need to layout/design using images, text, logos, shapes etc Designer will suit you best. From your description, both programs have more than enough features to do what you want. Can you give us a more detailed description (or show a similar example) of what you want to do with the software so we may advise you better?
