rhumbrecht
This is probably a pretty silly question, but I'm having a pretty hard time with it... I have a custom vector path on top of a rasterized image. I want to use that custom vector path as a selection outline... How do I convert that veto into a selection marquee? I feel like I'm either overthinking this or it's not possible in Affinity... I tried using the selection brush and lasso tool, but I'm not able to produce the same results with my shape, effectively. Any thoughts?
Staff MEB Posted October 28, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 28, 2015 Hi rhumbrecht, Select the path, change to the Pen Tool, then click on the Selection button in the context toolbar (on the left). rhumbrecht
MEB, Thanks for your quick reply. I feel really silly about this one haha. Maybe I'm not in the right mode or area, but I don't see any "Selection" button in the contextual menu for the Pen Tool.. Here's a screenshot of my Pen Tool menu:
Staff MEB Posted October 28, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 28, 2015 My fault sorry. I though you're were talking about Affinity Photo. In Designer press cmd and click on the shape's thumbnail in the Layers panel. elguapo and GregMcMahan 2 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference

jg2000
This thread 'almost' helps me. My issue is, I'd like to make 'Multiple' precise paths using the pen tool and then make all of them selections. Right now the way I see it working is every time you make a new path it creates a new layer. How can you merge these paths into a single layer to them make a selection. Staff MEB Posted December 2, 2015 Staff Share Posted December 2, 2015 Hi jg2000, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Select all the paths then go to menu Layer ▸ Geometry ▸ Add to join them all. Finally convert them to a selection. retrograde 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference
