Olof Hjalmar
Hi, Sometimes when I'm working in affinity photo the software deletes the pixels by itself in a very weird way. It removes them in a square pattern and I have no idea what's going on. I'm unsure about how to reproduce it though since it happens rather rare. This time it was when I was using the Erase Brush tool. When I undo, the image is restored bit by bit with squares but never fully, only in the area where I have painted, so somehow it has been deleted back into the history. I didn't do anything special, just duplicate a layer, paint on it and erase. When I save the document the layer is not restored and if I export it, it shows up as it looks like in affinity photo. I've attached a couple of screenshots to show what happens when I undo and uploaded the original document as well. I'm using AP 1.9.3 on MacOS Mojave using a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB Antonia Avellanos variations.afphoto Edited June 15, 2021 by Olof Hjalmar Chris B
Staff Chris B Posted June 15, 2021 Staff Share Posted June 15, 2021 Hey Olof Hjalmar, welcome to the forums. It looks like the pixel data has absolutely gone from the document you have attached so I can't really comment on what has happened because it looks like it was never there in the first place. That being said, I think this is quite worrying and I'd like to suggest that you work on future documents and Save it with the History (File > Save with History) and then send it over to us so we can investigate. Olof Hjalmar
Thanks for the welcome Chris, I'm happy to be here! Affinity Photo is an awesome piece of software that I'm really happy to have discovered. I turned on the Save History with Document and soon after the weird pixel erasing happened again, this time when using the Brush Tool. I've attached the document below. Also, this time around when I undo the square sections come back completely black. It's really weird. Anyway, I hope it will make sense with this document saved with it's history. I'll go ahead and reinstall the software to see if it resolves the issue. By the way, I don't know if this is relevant but this document was created through the New From Clipboard function. Staff Chris B Posted June 23, 2021 Staff Share Posted June 23, 2021 Thanks for the file and saving it with History - I'm going to pass this to the developers as I am not sure what has happened here and we don't want it to keep continuing for you. Olof Hjalmar
Hello again, I just wanted to let you know that I haven't encountered the bug in the new 1.10 release nor in the beta versions. Cheers Chris B
Staff Chris B Posted August 13, 2021 Staff Share Posted August 13, 2021 Brilliant - I cannot reproduce it either Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Olof Hjalmar
Nevermind what I said. Today it happened again for the 1.10 version. It just deleted some work I had done and when I tried to undo it, it deleted even more. This is a really weird problem. I will switch back over to the beta, didn't seem to be present there. Staff Chris B Posted August 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted August 16, 2021 Oh no! That's really disappointing. Can you share that file with me at all? I'll reopen the bug report we made when you first contacted us.
