industrialstudios
I know some people find it annoying, but I use the double tab to make a full stop in a sentence a lot. I can't seem to find it in any of the Affinity Apps on the MacOs and I would like to see it implemented. If this is already been requested I'm sorry I missed it, feel free to delete this post. Fixx
It should be doable with autocorrect but that preference does not accept double space :-(

Wait, you mean software actually does this intentionally? I had actually been thinking that had to be a bug, it is so stupidly annoying as I usually bump into that while typing monospaced text and using a series of spaces to align things for display on a terminal or some such... Now that I know that, I finally went in and found that I can indeed turn it off. YES!!! THANK YOU! Getting rid of that will make life much easier! industrialstudios

Apple's Pages and Mail does it, while Notes does not. I haven't set this up, so it must be intentional on the part of Apple. My Android phone, using the Swift keyboard, does this for every app.
Old Bruce
I just checked and it works in textedit but not Publisher. industrialstudios 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear. Funnily though, it works in any input field – which are obviously based on NSText. Sooo… Let me introduce you to the workaround #3929: use e.g. the Preferences > Filler Text input field as your "plain text notepad"! garrettm30 1 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
