Hallo,

I have a problem with making a isometric design.  I have no idea how to join two object that they look like this attached.

I will be grateful for help.

Your first example image looks okay to me but I can’t see the wider picture and I don’t know what you are trying to do.
Can you try asking the question in a different way?
Using annotations – point A; line B; point X on curve Y, etc. – may make it easier for us to understand you requirements.

Note: The word “join” can mean different things to different people under different circumstances. Try and be more specific about what you want.

Curves, nodes, objects have each different options to get "joined".

@Pixelpest, what command are you using to turn the drawn zigzag curve into the shape of the S curve?
And would it be shorter to copy the S and reduce it to the needed nodes?

Use the Node tool and drag and hold while this is active: Snap to geometry of selected curves

Sélectionner le tracé avec l'outil noeud.
Activer la courbe.
Glisser/deposer le tracé sur le point de la courbe.
Maintenir la souris et appuyer sur la touche alt et relâcher alt.

Select the node with the node tool.
Activate the curve.
Drag and drop the path onto the point on the curve.
Hold the mouse and press and release alt.

No special set up needed. When you want to close a curve you exact number of nodes.

Select both path with the node tool and select every node of the path you want to align - wait for the cursor to change and the alignment taken place;

Thank you! In a tutorial the process looks different but the effect it is the same. I tried to make it like you and it is ok! But I have a problem with the stroke now. How can I fix it?

@PixelPest, that's an impressive (hidden?) feature!

But in case of this topic, wouldn't you avoid to count nodes + draw nodes, but rather …

1. split ("break") the S curve,
2. copy the resulting bow, and …

3. … merge ("join") their ends?

p.s.: is there a specific reason that you prefer to present your tiny tuts as GIFs? – I do appreciate them but often wish to stop them at certain positions in the animation to enable to discover all details, in particular in not moving areas. Also sometimes it's hard to recognize their start frame to see the lesson more clear.

The problem is the alignment. While you see the guide snapping to the bounding box to the left we don´t have anything to snap on inside the geometry and an absolute vertically alignment is crucial here. Inserting new nodes gives a nice "angle indicator" but it´s just an approximation in the end.

It looks as if the curves aren't really touching each other / as if the top point of the desired, new shape would need to move up to the tangent of the S-curve.

Ah, thank you, I see the issue now. The various indicators are indeed tricky, up to confusing. On the left side not only a guide snaps charming (at the bounding box), also the new-node-indicator appears to snap at its horizontal position (appears only?) … while on the other spot of the curve (within the bounding box) both snappings don't work, it even looks that 2 non-horizontal snapping positiones are offered by the UI.

It reminds me to a former discussion about the understanding of "key points" in the snapping options. I would expect both of them (left AND right) to be key points because of there position at a virtual junction of tangent + horizontal line. Actually the wanted points are those where the curve changes its direction (relative to the vertical) – which, in my idea, would be well known to the app … and its rather "just" a missing UI … ?

That is exactly what I have shown in my first reply from Tuesday. If we had a modifier key which lets the indicator snaps to certain degree or preferably 100% horizontally/vertically it would be perfect for me. 

Fun thing is it has a tool to visualise this exact border - but we don´t have access to the Move tool at the same time then to let the guide snap to it.

Was it ever discussed in a bug forum? – The app seems to lack in the ability to enable the user to a mathemati- / geometrically correct result, although the desired info seems to be known to the app. – Or is it "by design" because Affinity is "no CAD app"?

Your GIF: do I understand right that also this way (via zigzag curve) doesn't avoid the issue? It seems you also struggle in finding the correct point for the new node like I did in my video. – So does this way have an advantage for this specific S-curve task (towards the break-curve method)?

The GIF: exactly - snapping to bounding box or nodes is fine - but there´s no way to snap h or v inside geometry.

The zig-zag stroke was just to show you don´t have to mimic any curvature beforehand the alignment will take place.

Here AD shows the exact alignment option - but I can´t get any guide or helper object to it in the same time:
