Screwed up text boxes with two column layout after inserting single page

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a publisher file with master templates, two sided, with two columns (see attached).

I created some pages, and then inserted a single page before page 8. Now, if you open page 8/9, you see, that columns were swapped: Text starts on right column and continues on left column. This was the case for all existing pages. Then I added another page at the end, which had swapped columns as well (page 11). I added two new pages, which were finally correct again.

How can I avoid this behaviour?

Another issue, which occured multiple times: Sometimes inserting text to a page inserted the same text into the master page. When I deleted the text from the master page, the page text was deleted as well. Maybe this is related, maybe not.

Best,

Andreas

I need to know what it is you are trying to achieve before I can offer any useful advice. Right now you have Text on page 6, page 7 is blank then there is (messed up) text on page 8 and 9. Is that what you wanted, a blank page on 7? Or did you want two blank pages after 6?

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I think the problem is the use of two separate text frames on each master page. You would be better served with using one frame with two columns.1104640372_ScreenShot2021-06-14at9_13_51AM.png.a37bc95e294a963807b7a1fbe8eff0a1.png

You can try naming your text frames, and look at the tutorial about smart master pages.

@Andreas Zehender

This may be the cause of the problem , the text frames on the Master Pages are named. Unfortunately the Names are the same on each page of the two page Spread. It might be better to name them Frame 1, Frame 2, Frame 3 and Frame 4 instead of Frame1, Frame2, Frame1 and Frame2 on each spread.
