I have just started using Designer, Photo and Publisher on a Dell XPS 15 (9550). I am finding that in publisher I am getting very choppy movements to almost a point where its unusable. I have tried a number of different suggestions to help but can only get an improvement by turning of features like grid lines etc. I am wondering if perhaps there is an incompatibility here with this Dell.

Kar123 I wonder if now you have the application running if you are having any performance issues?

Tried disabling Open CL but think made things worse if anything.

Tried switching between Windows Auto selection and manual selection of each of the display cards.

Watched the Performance in Task Manager and CPU, and both display graphics are not being pushed anywhere near capacity.

SETUP

Affinity Publisher Version: 19.2.1035

Dell XSP 15 9550

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz

16MB RAM

Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 & NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M

Any advice would be very welcome

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @Nick808.

Does that happen with all your Publisher documents, or just one specific one? Sometimes problems like that have been due to having text wrapping around a lot of objects, or having one particular object with a complex wrap outline. Then, when you're adding text somewhere before that spot in the document, the text reflow can require a lot of work for each new character that you type.

If it's one document, how long is it? How many images are you wrapping text around?

Does it happen in the 1.9.4 beta? You can find it in a pinned post at the top of this forum: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/58-publisher-beta-on-windows/

It will install alongside your 1.9.2 retail release, so you can have both installed at the same time.

Thank you for the welcome Walt.

The document is very simple. I am only creating a low content journal internal. Only got started on the Master with a dozen or so text boxes, 150 pages and some lines. Had to give up as to frustrating trying to line things up.

I have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling to no effect. I will try the 19.4 beta.

Thanks for post.

Reverted to Version 18.5 and works fine. Unfortunately I couldn't open the same document I had tried to create in Version 19 as it wouldn't let me open it. However, created a similar document and I could move items without the significant lag. I guess my only option is t report as a bug.

You could try opening your "similar" document from 1.8 in 1.9, and see if the lag appears there.

If it does, could you upload one of your documents for the forum users (or Serif) to look at?
