MacOS Window bar file name location showing

Recommended Posts

On MacOS, you need to conform to the standard window methods that allow a file name to be control-clicked (or right clicked) and a popup menu appears showing the path to the file. Please see other apps such as Preview that implements this. This has been a standard MacOS for nearly forever (Classic MacOS 9).

Yes, so that you can quickly change typos in the filename. 😉

I support this. The whole implementation of the filename in the toolbar by Serif has been so bad (is my opinion) that I've decided to completely remove the filename from it via Customise Toolbar. It means I can't see the filename when there's only one file open without going to the Window menu, but that's an acceptable workaround for me.

Yes, this is a very "strange" solution.

I always thought it was a "tweak" of the OS, because fortunately it's not in Windows.

This is a standard feature that many mac users rely on, so it's frustrating that a right click just gives you the same options as clicking anywhere across the bar, it's one of those features that you only notice once it's not available. I thought it must have been a bug when I first used Designer, but have gradually got used to it not working properly. = another workaround😐

How many threads do we really need to start on this?  It has come up SO many times...

YES, this definitely should be implemented, and it has been around a LOT longer than macOS 9 (it was in GS/OS for that matter too), but let's please stop making redundant threads and add to the existing ones if there is something new to be said?
