jdvoracek
There are times when I want to deselect all the layers in the layers panel, especially when I am working with colors in the color panel so that doesn't affect any selected layers. I am usually setting a color for the next edit. If the layer panel has few layers, I just click in the panel off all layers, but if I have a deep layer stack, there is no free space without a layer. Scrolling up or down goes to the panel edges. Is there a way to deselect all the layers, to have none selected? Thanks in advance.
David in Яuislip
With the Move tool selected you can just click the blank area around the canvas, otherwise use the menu as below. You can setup a shortcut if you wish, I've used <alt>L jdvoracek 1 Quote Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Intel i7-1360P 2.20 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Iris Xe Affinity Photo - 24/05/20, Affinity Publisher - 06/12/20, KTM Superduke - 27/09/

Pšenda
The ESC key works in the ADesigner. Shame that it doesn't work equally in APhoto. I set up a shortcut of Shift+D for Deselect All in AP. Not quite as convenient as ESC would be but it does work. Why should I set and remember another keyboard shortcut, which no longer works in other applications? I'm rather surprised by the inconsistency - why the identical function (pressing the Esc key in ADesigner and APublisher) in APhoto doesn't work! The inconsistency is clearly visible in APublisher - I press Esc, the selected layer is deselected. Switch to Designer persona - Esc works. Switch to Photo persona - Esc nothing! Great. Great. +1 It's ennoying. When switching Photo/Publisher/Designer, it make life easier if same command have same shortcut.
