poor text outcome in .pdf > V 1035

Recommended Posts

Hi,

decribed this problem already in another entry (wrong topic in the pub beta forum) "AffPub 1.9.4.1076 (Beta) has degraded display of text style samples". Now I investigated a little bit more. Please refer to the attached .jpg.
middle: A view on the finished product: A1 poster with hundreds of text frames, 3 placed tiff's, 1 placed logo (afdesign) and 7 placed afdesigns (No. 1-7).
left: Difference in .pdf outcome - top V 1035 (ok) and  - below V >1035 (1076, 1082 - text becomes worse)
right: An outline of the poster structure

If all placed afdesign's (No. 1-7) are NOT displayed, the text in the .pdf is ok, as before (like in V 1035).
I even ONE afdesign is displayed (No. 1-7) the text in the .pdf becomes worse.

The font I use is Myriad Pro, but I have the same problem with a chinese version, which is using Microsoft YaHei in addition. Looks like, it has nothing to do with font type.

Please refer too to my description in the above mentioned topic, if the old .pdf version and the new one are opend in photo for a comparison, the newer version (> 1035) is showing a loss in sharpness as well.

I have checked the afpub preferences (performance): They using the same adjustments. Additionally I updated the NVidia driver to he latest version - no change.

If you need the files, please provide an link.
Thanks

Is your issue with the retail release or with the beta?

If it's with the beta and does not happen in the retail release then the beta forum is the correct place to report it, not the bugs forum.

A Moderator can move it, if it's appropriate.

Hi Gabe,

1. The .pdf's you got using both the same pre-adjustment: PRINT
2. I checked now again with pre adjustment PRINT READY, the problem is the same. In the preferences there is no difference between them (Rasterize: non assisted attributes).

3. Now I made another test with 1082, using PRINT READY, but changed Rasterize to NOTHING. Here now the problem is gone.

What does that mean?
Why do 1035 not rasterize anything, while >1035 does it?
Is it by intention or do you consider it as bug?

The issue "Unwanted rasterisation when exporting as PDF" (REF: AFB-4789) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1730".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
