Hi

I can not start AP at all. Tried to reinstall the application. Starting with CTRL pressed and cleared all settings does not help as well.

Can you try clearing the macOS font cache and run a Font Book check on system fonts please?

To clear the font cache (through safe boot):
- shut down the mac
- press the power button
- Immediately after hearing the start-up tone, hold down the shift key
- release the shift key after the Apple logo/progress indicator appears
- restart the computer normally.

To validate/check the fonts with Font Book:
- open Font Book app (it's located in the Applications Folder)
- In the All Fonts section, select all the fonts listed in the middle column
- go to menu File > Validate Fonts
The report should tell you if there's problematic files

Let me know if you still have issues after performing these steps.

Restarted into SafeMOde

Font Validation didn't show any errors (232 valid fonts).

Restart

I tried without SafeMode first (crash report at 14:43)

Restarted into SafeMode

Safe Mode did not help either (crash report at 14:46)

Hi @MartinRR,
Please follow these steps:

1. Close Affinity Photo, open a Finder window and go to the following folder:

If you are using the Mac app Store version:
~/Library/Containers/Affinity Photo/Data/Library/Application Support/

If you are using the Affinity Store version:
~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo/

2. Rename the user folder you will find there to user.backup

3. Launch Affinity Photo it should launch without issues.

Don't delete the backup folder yet - it contains all your currents settings, brushes, assets etc. Zip the user.backup folder and upload it using this upload link.

If you didn't customise the program, adding brushes, assets or don't need/want the user.backup file anymore to recover something, you can delete it. When you renamed that folder Affinity created a new user folder as if you had reset the program so everything will work fine.

Hi

I did not have any of these folders on my system, but found the issue.

The application folder in the users library directory was owned by root instead of the user account:

ls -altr ~/Library/Application\ Support/Affinity\ Photo
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 3 root staff 96 Apr 4 23:27 .
drwxr-xr-x 5 root staff 160 May 16 15:31 Plugins
drwx------+ 182 "realuser" staff 5824 Jun 17 07:39 ..

I switched the directory ownership to the correct username and now it works.

Thanks for your support

Hello MEB,

I don't have a user folder either and the permissions in ~/Library/Application\ Support/Affinity\ Photo are correct.

Unfortunately I don't get any further with the registration, the error message is always

Error processing server response (0x000001).

Also "try again" fails with the same error.

Can you help me with the last hurdle? I couldn't even start the program until now and am transitionally using the beta instead.

BTW: AP does not create a user folder automatically.

Regards

Fred
