Copy-Paste Macro Recording - Portability

Recommended Posts

James Ritson did a video where he created a bunch of adjustments, then copied them, started recording a macro, then pasted them, and ended recording. The results was a macro with one step titled Paste. While there are limitations vs recording individual actions, it does work around the current lack of editing capabilities.

I just tried this on approach with the 1.9.4.243 beta and it did not work as expected. While the adjustments were created, it appears that a curve was only applied to the size of the image during recording not during playback.

Hi @BeauRX,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

I guess you've modified the mask of that curves layer. In fact, the same thing happens with any adjustment that you paint on. As soon as you paint on it, it will have a mask the size of the original document, which will get pasted to the new document. If you don't touch the mask, it will cover the entire doc.

Hi @BeauRX, to expand on what Gabe said, if you've modified the adjustment's mask in any way you should be able to 'fill' it—either before recording the macro or during—which should then help with this issue. Select your adjustment layer, go to the Channels panel, right click the respective Alpha channel and choose Fill. Hope that helps!
