[edited - not a bug - user misunderstanding] Publisher 1.9.3: Selecting 'Exclude Snapping' on an image within a Picture Frame doesn't mean it won't snap to anything

Recommended Posts

OS: Mac OS 10.11.6 El Capitan
Publisher 1.9.3

Selecting 'Exclude Snapping' on an image within a Picture Frame will still cause it to snap to guides -- it will simply exclude it from being a snapping candidate when other objects are being moved.  To prevent it from snapping to other objects to smoothly reposition, click-drag the Picture Frame content and then press the alt/option key -- pressing the alt/option key before starting the click-drag will not have the same effect, causing a duplicate of the image content in another layer.

These are not bugs.

Exclude From Snapping is not intended to prevent an object from snapping to things when it is moved. It makes an object not be a snapping candidate when other objects are being moved.

Opt/alt-drag is working correctly. Holding down opt/alt before beginning the drag is for duplicating an object. Holding down opt/alt after beginning the drag is for ignoring snapping.

Thank you for clarifying.  I understand my misinterpretation of the Exclude from Snapping now.  As for the other issue of alt-dragging, the operation is not clear on the documentation as there is no mention of the order in which alt and click-drag is performed.  I'll try to delete these posts now. Thanks again.

You will not be able to delete them. But if you want to Hide them, you can probably do that. See if you have a "Moderation Actions"pull-down above the first post in the topic. If so, it may have a Hide option.

Or you can leave them to help future users.

Thank you for your help.  I can't find a Hide option or Moderator Actions pull-down, so the post will seem to have to stay (and show my inability to understand the documentation) until someone else with the permissions could hide it.
