alphabet.publishing
When I export a document to PDF, the default setting is to export by spread. But most of the time I want to export each page individually. I can't tell you how many times, I've saved, realized I messed up and saved again. I usually save in bleed and non-bleed because different printers have different preferences so it's really a pain to have to constantly resave two times! uneMule, IronStrikesIron, loukash and 5 others
loukash
Agreed, this is highly annoying. surgenator and Talisman999 2 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

Wosven
And I'll add that spread PDF or printing is only usefull with rare and small documents, when the copy writer want to read and add corrections on paper where it's easier to find errors for him/her and for the layout operator to read (similar to screen rendering). But it's usefull (spreads) 1-2% times against 98-99% pages PDF in a year. When you export minimum 2-10 PDF a day, it's important. Ben Lime
Totally agreed - I'm amazed there isn't an option to set these preferences for all projects. Not just pages/spreads but also the DPI (which seems to default to 72 instead of 300) as well. I felt sure there must be a way to set these defaults but I googled it and found this thread. Amazing. Hopefully the devs review these forums and add feature requests to their roadmap? surgenator and Talisman999
Wosven
We can't know if i's on the roadmap, and sadly, like using the file's origin folder instead of the last one used by the app, there's a lot of issues that impead day to day work. It's worst when you use less the apps, and forget about all the tricks and issues you need extra clicks to avoid, and with time, you realize you spend more time using tricks/extra clicks than really working and being efficient Talisman999, Krustysimplex and surgenator
surgenator
+1 Strongly agree! I like to compose the document as a spread, but I can barely imagine any situation where I would want to export it as a spread. I mess up my exports at least 10% of the time because it defaults to spreads. Talisman999
MisterM2020
I can see people asking about this since 2018!!! It is mid 2023 now and there is still no way to save the "Area - All pages" as a default nor is there an option to be able to save this in a custom preset. Tried to find a config file, in case there was a hack to fix this "bug". Reading lots of other posts, I can see this is a huge time waster for many people, bit of RSI anybody? I won't be upgrading to Affinity Publisher 2, looks like it's back to an InDesign subscription for me. Talisman999
