Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but if anyone knows I would appreciate your experience. I shoot in RAW, largest size for my camera, file size is approximately 25 MB +/- a few MBs. When I upload into AP the afphoto file size can be around 225 MB at the default 72 DPI. The file is usually 6024 x 4020 px. Will I loose quality of focus/clarity if I reduce the afphoto document size to save on storage space? Many thanks for any information you can give or to where I can research.

Do you mean the resolution of the document? Then yes, reducing the resolution will reduce the image quality.

If you need to reduce the size (MB) of a file, then there is more options - what bit depth do you use (8/16/32)? Does the file contain snapshots, history? Does the file contain adjustment layers, live filters, masks, ...?

I generally do have layers, live filters, masks, etc but it is a huge file size even before the edits. I do have history, etc. I did not change anything I just have what is defaulted from my camera to AP. I did try reducing the px size and the focus/clarity/quality of the image was greatly reduced. Unfortunately, I do not know what bit depth is and how it relates to file size.

If you use Google, Bing, or another web search engine you can find many articles explaining that topic. A good example is the BIT DEPTH TUTORIAL from Cambridge in Colour.

If you want to understand bit depth in greater detail, there is a wealth of information on the internet.

It is what motivated me to suggest a web search....

I will definitely look into it. I know I have to go to external hard drives for storage but also I am trying to figure out if there is a way to reduce file size without sacrificing image resolution and quality. Thank you.

The issue of bit depth is, of course, beyond the possibilities of a brief help, and it is therefore necessary to search the Internet, but a link to the help can then help to make it easier to find your way around the application.
