Chndr
Hi everyone, I am new with Affinity. I have used Photoshop for years on a Windows computer. Now that I've a iMac I switched to Affinity. I cannot find a 3D functionality in Affinity. Does it have this functionality or not? And if not, will this functionality be available in the future? Thanks
BofG
Designer has isometric functionality, beyond that I don't believe there is anything else in the 3D realm.
Chndr
Thanks, also nice but that is not what I'm looking for. With the 3D option you can select a 2D-layer and convert it to a 3D object. I hope the designers will copy this functionality from Ps to Affinity 🙂 Edited May 29, 2021 by Chndr
iconoclast
Possibly plugins could help you. For example the free G'MIC plugin has some 3D functions. But I'm not sure if it works on MAC. In Photo and Designer there are only the layer effects ("fx"). With the item "3D" of the layer effects you can give the objects on the layer a plastical look. But not really 3D. BofG
You can sort of do that with the isometric panel, select a flat drawn object/group and then automatically fit it to one of the planes, and you can draw/edit within each plane. I don't think there's any psudo-3d type functions. I only have Designer though so I'm unsure about what Photo has to offer.
Chndr
I was looking at it YouTube. Its kinda looks like it, but what was so easy on Ps is that you had to click on one button and you could rotate a flat object in all directions and put it into the perspective you want. BofG
Yep, so it's not so powerful as that then. You can set the angle but that is done when you set up the grid, and it doesn't have true perspective, only axonometric projections.
