iMatt
What's the correct method of removing the white square around a TIFF bitmap image within Affinity Designer or Publisher? Thanks in advance.

White square you mean white line? Decreasing image size? (menu File, Document Setup, Dimensions, Rasterize & Trim). iMatt
This is what I mean. The image is a TIFF bitmap. I wish the white square to disappear leaving just the black image. I was told this some time ago but forgot how!!!
iconoclast
What about the Crop tool? Edit: Argh sorry, I see you are in Designer. You could try the Art Board Tool.

The white rectangle with the black pattern? I'd be much more interested to see your expanded Layers panel, rather than an irrelevant collection of brushes and effects… Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
markw
If you have Photo you could edit the image in that by using; File > Edit in Photo... And once in Photo go to; Filters > Colours > Erase White Paper and then send it back to Designer. A quick and dirty method might be to set the Layer’s blend mode to Multiply. Any content under white areas would then show through. And how can it be the brown rectangale when i mentioned the BLACK image?

In order to make it easier for others to understand next time, it is a matter of deleting the background of the image. Whether it is a square or some other shape is completely irrelevant.
