When zooming in or downsizing my design, it becomes pixelated! Why?

HI,

Ok here are the specs of my document :

resolution : 5000px x 3000px

resolution of my design : 2335px x 2394.7px

dpi : 300

vector base design

 

When I am at 100% zoom or more, everything is smooth and clean. When I zoom in, starting at 90% and below, it's start to get pixelated.

Also, when I export my image in its actual size as a PNG, for example, everything look fine. But if I export it at 500px x 300px it sucks big time! I even tried exporting it at 2500px x 1500px and it's still pixelated.

How can I make sure that my design doesn't get pixelated?

What other than a drastic reduction in quality after a tenfold reduction in resolution did you expect?

Export in vector format (PDF, SVG, EPS), or maximal resolution?

I did expect some reduction in quality... but not to look like it came out of the 1980 video game era. For example, I have another logo that is 1942px x 1881 px. I downsized it to 673px x 625 px and it still looks great. And, it's only 150 dpi. Mine is 300 dpi!

Also, As I mentionned, even downsizing from 5000px to 2500px, it looks fuzzy and starts pixelating!

I can't use those formats. I need it to be in PNG for web use.

DPI is completely irrelevant when working with pixels. 1000px is 1000px, whatever the DPI.

However, you are using a very similar resolution (at that time, the max monitor resolution was 640x480), so similar results can be expected.

 

Without further information (eg screenshot, example files), it will be difficult to advise you in any way.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

As Psenda has requested above, a copy of your Affinity document, both before and after resizing using your chosen method would help us to investigate this further for you.

Can you please upload a sample of these documents here for us?

It' s ok, I found a work around to make look better... And corrected the issues that it was too busy for the resolution that I was aiming for.
