0o_bow_o0 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Hi there, Im having constant issues with this app now. phantom hidden storage eating up space? I delete EVERYTHING and it’s still not reducing in size. This has been happening for years. Files not opening after switching to another app, when trying to save files, opening files, adding assets from iCloud. Then after the crashes I cant open the file I was on. I’ve literally wasted months of my life 😭😭 having to delete files that are unable to open and causes a crash when trying to save said files. is there anyway I can rescue these files? I don’t want to but spending a monthly subscription with Adobe seems to be the most logical thing to do at this point. I really don’t know what to do, this is constantly happening. Can anyone help me please lol Thanks 🙏🏼 Quote

Unfortunately Affinity apps autosave to a sandbox version of the working file. These types of files are ‘generally' inaccessible via other iOS apps (there are a few 3rd party desktop apps can can access iOS sandbox but the files may still be corrupted). File loss issues can often be reduced or indeed prevented by modifying your workflow. The safest workflow is to create a new file, use the Save option straight away to save a copy outside of sandbox. Now you can use the Document menu 'Save' option while editing (this updates the file outside of sandbox). Save frequently and don’t rely on autosave as it doesn’t update the external file. The external file can be copied /moved/shared just like a normal file. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Staff Gabe Posted May 21, 2021 Staff Posted May 21, 2021 Hi @0o_bow_o0 Sorry for the delayed reply. you could try and go down the iMazing route and see if you can recover any files: On 11/20/2020 at 11:50 AM, Gabe said: Download iMazing (Commercial application for Mac, but the free trial is only needed, unfortunately i'm not aware of any Windows applications) Connect your iPad to your Mac Make a backup of the iPad through iMazing In the top right click the iPad's name and select the backup Inside the Apps > Affinity Designer folder > Library > Application Support > com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.ios > Drag the Autosave folder to the desktop (iMazing trial allows 10 drag operations, so dragging the folder will get all files exported at once) Renamed from .autosave to .afdesign and check through these files.
