Rcoopr Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 I am having similar issues. Using a Thinkpad Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5600U CPU @ 2.60GHz w/8GB ram. Freshly updated to 1.9.2. Although the previous version 1.9.1 was also having this same issue, I was hoping the update would fix it. I am simply typing, and the software is lagging. There are no graphics or photo in my document yet. Every 15 minutes or so it just crashes on me. Very frustrating! Quote
Staff Gabe Posted May 12, 2021 Staff Posted May 12, 2021 Hi @Rcoopr, Can you attach a crash report? What GPU have you got? Quote

Staff Gabe Posted May 13, 2021 Staff Posted May 13, 2021 The one is crashing in a Windows dll (ntddll.dll). Try to run System File Checker (SFC): In the search box on the taskbar, type command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt, then select Run as administrator > Yes. At the command prompt, type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and the /). Scanning will take a few minutes. If SFC finds corrupted files and replaces them, restart your PC and check if the issue persists. Quote
Rcoopr Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 Thanks kindly! I've just run it and seems to have fixed corrupted files. Quote
Rcoopr Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 I restarted the computer and after 20 minutes of editing, it crashed again. I've checked the crash reports and this time there isn't any .dmp file. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted May 13, 2021 Staff Posted May 13, 2021 Have you got hardware acceleration ON or OFF in Preferences > Performance? Quote
Rcoopr Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 I don't have a drop down menu called Preferences? Quote
Rcoopr Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 Ahh sorry I found the button you are talking about. It's switched off. If I try to switch it on, it says that my windows pro is unsupported, see attached screenshot. I have updated my windows with the latest updates last week. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted May 13, 2021 Staff Posted May 13, 2021 It doesn't say your windows is not supported. You won't have a new enough GPU to enable it which is fine. I honestly don't know what it could be. I still think it's something very specific on your system causing it (since SFC found and fixed some issues). Quote
Rcoopr Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 Hmm the dialogue box seems to point out there is a difference between my windows and the one that is supported. Is my version of Windows Pro supported then? I would assume that if SFC fixed the issues, my system would be fully functional now. I dont have the same issue using Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo (or indeed other softwares more graphics intensive - 3d modelling and rendering). So my conclusion is that this must be an issue specific to Affinity Publisher. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted May 13, 2021 Staff Posted May 13, 2021 That's very strange that the other 2 app don't suffer from the same crash. You could try to rename the %AppData%\Affinity\Publisher\1.0 folder to 1.0.backup and see if that's any better. Quote
