Klaus E. Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Affinity Photo 1.9.3 freezes and crashes on OSX 11.3.1 while using the paint and rubber stroke on all kind of images. I have attached one crash log for your info. WindowServer_2021-05-12-100735_MacBook-Pro-2.crash Quote
Dan C Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 Hi @Klaus E., Sorry to hear you're having trouble! From your crash report, this appears to be an issue with Metal Hardware Acceleration and your GPU - can you please navigate to Affinity Photo > Preferences > Performance and untick Metal from the bottom of this dialog. Restart the Affinity app as prompted and then try painting/erasing once again - does this stop the app from crashing please? We'd also like a little more information about your document in Affinity, to see if we can replicate this issue here. Can you please confirm what a 'typical' document looks like for you in Affinity Photo? For example are you only editing 32/bit documents, are you editing very large canvases etc? Many thanks in advance Quote
Klaus E. Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 Hi Dan, many thanks for your help. Affinity Photo no longer crashes. I switched off the 'Metal Speedup' there and now everything goes much faster. This option should be disabled by default. 😀 All the best, Klaus Old Bruce 1 Quote
