Bold Venture Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 I've seen some remarks about "syncing" the software, rather than downloading it? How is this achieved? I've already got the programs on my desktop, but I'll gladly consider synching them with wherever or whatever we're syncing with. Quote
R C-R Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 It would help if you mentioned where you have seen any remarks about syncing the Affinity apps because "syncing" can mean several different things, but you need to download & install the apps to use them. Dan C Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 Hi @Bold Venture, Welcome to the Affinity Forums If you're referring to registering the applications with your Affinity Store account and syncing your free/purchased content, then you can find out more about this below - https://affinity.serif.com/store/resources-install-guide/ If this isn't what you're looking for, please provide more info as requested above! awakenedbyowls Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 I'm trying to search for a thread on syncing, but not sure what is meant by it in the context of this thread. I'm pondering whether to buy an iPad or a drawing tablet. I feel that an iPad would serve me better for photo editing, and being able to see the design is a plus. I know some drawing tablets have this feature but they are in the price range of an entry level iPad so.. One benefit the drawing tablets seem to offer is buttons to set functionality, which the iPad doesn't and requires choosing setting by touching the screen. If there was a way to sync the Windows and iPad versions via bluetooth while working on a design that allows input from both then that would be potentially useful? It wouldn't matter if there was a bit of lag between the two. This might be my last post for 24 hours as I used up my post quota yesterday and don't know what it is, also still waiting to be able to upload an avatar (I thought it was 3 days) On 5/11/2021 at 12:05 PM, walt.farrell said: It might also help to post this question in the discussion where syncing was mentiioned, as the users there should be able to describe what they're discussing Quote

Unfortunately there's no such support for this that I'm aware of between iPad & Windows, my apologies. On macOS you can use your iPad through 'Sidecar', which turns your iPad into a secondary display for your mac and can accept touch inputs. You may be able to find third party alternatives on Windows for this, however as these are untested on Windows we cannot guarantee compatibility with Affinity here. I hope this helps awakenedbyowls 1 Quote

I decided to order an XP-Pen Artist 13.3 Pro in the end, which is on offer for £240 right now and seems to be getting rave reviews from everyone. Hope I have made the right choice. If I can also sell some art this summer then maybe I'll invest in an iPad later as well. Dan C 1 Quote
