JeromeB Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Hello, I have just installed Affinity designer (90 days evaluation version) on my computer (windows 10 family). Just after launching the application and click on "continue with evaluation version", a crash occurs systematically. I've attached the log and dmp crashreport files. thanks for your help. Komatös Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 The first thing you should do is update the AMD drivers. If that doesn't help, disable OpenCL. Since the programme already crashes before you can access the preferences, use the tool described below. JeromeB Posted May 11, 2021 Author Posted May 11, 2021 Hello, thanks fo your answer. my AMD drivers are up to date. I used the openCL disabler tool, but the following path is empty : C:\Users\jerom\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Designer\1.0\Settings there is no file "PerformancePreferences.xml" on the hard drive. Komatös Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Can you tell us more about the hardware? How many RAM is installed? How many RAM is used by the iGPU? Staff Sean P Posted May 27, 2021 Staff Posted May 27, 2021 Hi JeromeB, It looks as though the application is crashing inside AMD's OpenCL driver. I'll get this report passed on to development to look at, however I would first suggest updating or reinstalling your AMD graphics drivers and if that doesn't work then place this XML file in the location below - it will essentially do what the OpenCL disabler tool will do. Once you've done that you should then be able to start Designer as it will have OpenCL disabled.%appdata%\Affinity\Designer\1.0\Settings PerformancePreferences.xml Quote
