Timothy Calderwood Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Whenever I click on Help and do a search in either of the three Affinity programs, I get the same "no results" answer. What is going on? I have included screen shots. Quote

GarryP Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Works fine in Windows, see attached screen-grab. There might be some way to reconfigure your Help on OS X but I don’t know what that could be (if it’s possible). Seems a little odd that this is the first time I can remember seeing this problem (but my memory isn’t great). Quote

A quick fix could be to navigate to ~/Library/Caches and delete the "com.apple.helpd" folder. (That's how it's named on El Capitan; it might be named differently on newer MacOS.) Then restart the computer. There are also helpful and free 3rd party utilities like Onyx that will let you delete various system and user caches in case of similar problems. Just make sure to carefully read their respective instructions and user manuals to better understand what they do. loukash Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 For what it's worth, Apple's Help Viewer sucks anyway, and always did. For the apps where I need to look up help and references often, incl. Affinity for the time being, I'm linking to the help files directly from my default web browser – as the Help Viewer is nothing but a stripped down WebKit browser – saving the location as a bookmark. For Affinity, the default help bookmarks are: file:///Applications/Affinity%20Designer.app/Contents/Resources/AffinityDesigner.help/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/index.html file:///Applications/Affinity%20Photo.app/Contents/Resources/AffinityDesigner.help/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/index.html file:///Applications/Affinity%20Publisher.app/Contents/Resources/AffinityDesigner.help/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/index.html If you need other languages, replace "English.lproj" with "en-US.lproj", "de.lproj", etc. Then you can browse them easily in your browser. It's the same resource as https://affinity.help online.
