I placed a pixel image in to designer - created an outline for clean edges to pixel image (they seemed to turn out sharper than doing the same in Affinity Photo??) - but I need to knock out part of a looped handle of pixel image - I can not seem to be able how to figure out how to do this?

Also, as I stated, I decided to do this in Designer, because the outlined image appeared to be sharper and cleaner edges than Affinity Photo.

But I am at a state of confusion how to make a nice, sharp deletion to that pixel image (using pen line to keep sharp and clean).

Perhaps I am doing this all wrong?

I actually did try that - but when I turned it in to a selection (instead of a pen shape) it did not seem as crystal clear and clean as a pen line?!?!

Without more detailed information about what and how you do (eg screenshots), it is difficult to try to advise you.

Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure what you mean by this, do you have an example you can share?

As Psenda has mentioned above, the more information/screenshots/screen recordings etc you can provide here, the easier it will be for us to understand your issue and assist further :)

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to use a vector shape to delete underneath - the ERASE blend mode is EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who did reply though - I suppose it was rather unclear what I was trying to do.

I did not want to use a "selection" to delete content underneath (including a placed image) - I wanted a nice clean vector shape - and the ERASE blend mode is just what I was looking for!!!!!  That is an AWESOME tool that is SOOOO valuable!

LOVE AFFINITY!!!!!

Yes, it was not obvious. It would have been more appropriate to provide a screenshot or sample file.

Keep in mind, that when exporting to vector format, it will be rasterized.
