pcdlibrary
Where is the auto page numbering setting for the TOC?
walt.farrell
Each text style you're including in the TOC has a separate setting (Edit: in the TOC panel) that controls whether page numbers show or not. 1.9 changed its appearance. It was a check box on the right of the text style name. Now you have to click on the hamburger menu on the right of the text style name. Edited May 8, 2021 by walt.farrell Add some critical info. walt.farrell
Sorry. Poor wording on my part. It's in the TOC panel. pcdlibrary
OK. Had to checkmark each of the TSTs I'm using. Can you have the page number before the title? This is a nifty feature; I should have learned it long ago.

Aside: This is quite convoluted, <rant on> in my opinion the whole method of designing a ToC is an exercise in battling many poor choices in the design of the software. <rant off> This will be in the Text Styles panel. Use the Move tool to select the ToC frame and you should be able to see the various ToC Text Styles in the Text Styles panel, edit the appropriate style. walt.farrell
Could you provide a sample .afpub document to illustrate your problem? pcdlibrary
Here is a sample. The TOC, as generated, reflected an 85pt font size. copy Sept 2021 newsletter.afpub

I'm not sure what you mean by an 85pt font size as generated. It's not that now. In any case, you can't easily get rid of the tab stops. But what you can do is the following: With the Move Tool, click outside the TOC text frame, then click on the TOC text frame, so it is selected but the text cursor is not placed in the text. (Or, you could click outside the TOC text frame, then select the frame in the Layers panel.) This will make the TOC text styles visible in the Text Styles panel. In the Text Styles panel, right-click on "TOC 1: Entry" and choose "Edit TOC 1: Entry". Click on Tab Stops in the Paragraph section, and delete the right-aligned tab stop at location 0p. This will move the TOC text to the left. There's still the tab to deal with. Your default tab stop is set to 3p, which seems a bit wide, so we'll make one more change to "TOC 1: Entry". Still in Paragraph, Tab Stops, change the Default to 1p. Then click OK. pcdlibrary
OK. Now there are no page numbers. The text is very blurry. I changed the font size from 85 to 12 & alignment to left. Generate a TOC & see YOUR results.
Old Bruce
I have looked at the file you included (copy Sept 2021 newsletter.afpub) and I have to be honest, if you had started from scratch instead of using an idml file you would probably be finished by now. There are so many things coming in which do not translate into features that Publisher has or can utilize. I suspect the problems you are having with the table of contents are caused by some features from indesign being mangled by one or more settings in InDesign which has/have no analog in Publisher. It is like you have a collection of Cassette Tapes and a CD Player, there is no easy way to listen to the tapes' music. walt.farrell 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.
