daveconrey Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Hello, I'm currently building a template for a magazine in Affinity Publisher at the U.S. Letter size, but I always want to have an A4 template as well. Changing the size of the document is easy enough, but what I'm struggling with is keeping the columns of type and other text boxes within guides/grids as the page gets scaled. I've tried all scaling options with no luck. The closest was using the "rescale" option within the Spread Properties/Scaling tab, which kept the text frames to the column guides, but it also horizontally scaled the typography, which is not good. Attached images are showing what happens when I try to adjust the page from US Letter to A4. Thanks. Quote
GarryP Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Because there is no relation between the page dimensions and the layers on the page – you give a layer position relative to the page/spread origin and the size of a layer has no relation to the page dimensions – I’m pretty sure that there’s no way to do what you want, other than doing it manually. I’m fairly sure that this sort of thing has been requested before but we have no idea whether this will change in the future. Quote

Not to always be "well InDesign can do it..," but it is something that's been part of that app for a very long time. Manual it is then, I suppose. Thanks for your insight. Quote
loukash Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Something like this should be possible via Master Pages. I haven't used it yet, however. Watch the tutorials. This one was it, I think: affinity.serif.com/tutorials/publisher/desktop/video/390003719 daveconrey 1 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Sonoma > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 18 > Affinity v2
