Bynah Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 I cannot get this text to wrap to the vines and dots to the right of them. Any ideas? Quote
Bynah Posted May 7, 2021 Author Posted May 7, 2021 I tried all the options in the text wrap box but they all did weird things. Is there another way? Chat-Pul Tea List5-7-21.afpub Quote
jmwellborn Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 @Bynah I believe the problem is that you have created a number of pixel layers which overlap each other and block out any way for the text frame to wrap neatly around a single object. I have tried grouping a few of the layers closest to the text, but there again the dots and scrolls around the border still block out any way for the text to wrap. I used TEXT>Show Special Characters and discovered that you had inserted a paragraph return after every line. I removed them, and have managed to create the option below. (See trial file). I know it isn't what you want. Hopefully somebody with much more expertise than I can help you either figure this out, or set you on an easier path. I also tried creating an ellipse, converting it to curves, then typing text inside it. I then copied that and pasted it into your document, replacing the linked text frame. I then used the Node Tool to drag the ellipse around a bit, creating a slightly wrapped text. When I was through, I went into the Text Frame Panel and changed the Fill color to transparent in order to get rid of a faint grey tinge which was the background for the text at that point. (See trial-2). Bynah Posted May 7, 2021 Author Posted May 7, 2021 Wow, thank you so much for all your labor. I really appreciate that! I could probably make it work what you did. I just needed more space on that card to add another category. I really wish I could do the text wrap. I wish I could understand what all you did. I just don't have much "expertise" at all! Still a newbie.☺️ Quote
jmwellborn Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 @Bynah tomorrow I will recreate it and write out what I did for you. I will also show you a simple text wrap. I will send it here as a PDF. jmwellborn Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 @Bynah Although @firstdefence has most definitely shown you the way, here is the promised PDF. Perhaps it will get you started with Text Wrap and does show you the amateurish way I wrapped some text for your file. Although I must confess that I completely overlooked the small (?) matter of adjusting your character style.😧 Using text wrap.pdf firstdefence 1 Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD storage, Ventura 13.7.6. But, I am not getting what to do after I paste it in the text frame. Every way I try to justify it it comes out wrong. How did you get that nice edge on the left side? What justify settings did you use? Quote
Bynah Posted May 9, 2021 Author Posted May 9, 2021 I tried your ellipse method. that was fun! just not what I wanted exactly. But good for future use. Thank you. jmwellborn 1 Quote

Hi Bynah, I literally just pasted it in, I haven't touched the justify settings, I did alter the text size to fit the new text frame better. The reason for the text size adjustment was, a few of the words were running out of the text frame and after removing the layer and creating a style to add the outline decoration to the text, the text was a bit larger, so I dropped the text size from the original size of 12pt to 11pt this also compensated for the slightly shortened height of the text frame and brought all the text back into view.
