alienfruit Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 I am trying to follow the tutorials of TextureLabs on Youtube but they are using Photoshop. I was wondering if there is any cheatsheet for Affinity Photo were I lookup which filters and/or layer modes to use to mimic the ones that can be found in PhotoShop? I have searched the forum but I might have used the wrong keywords Some of the tutorials:https://texturelabs.org/tutorials/retro-halftone-effects-photoshop-tutorial/https://texturelabs.org/tutorials/weathered-live-type/https://texturelabs.org/tutorials/color-bleed-watercolor-effect-photoshop-tutorial/ Probably this tutorial is not possible? (Art brush)https://texturelabs.org/tutorials/art-history-brush-photoshop-tutorial/ Thank you! Quote
Dan C Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Hi @alienfruit, Our apologies for the delayed response here! Unfortunately there's no such resource that I'm personally aware of, my apologies. On 5/7/2021 at 1:25 PM, alienfruit said: https://texturelabs.org/tutorials/color-bleed-watercolor-effect-photoshop-tutorial/ I have tried to replicate this effect, the tutorial applies the 'Filters > Render > Clouds' option to a mask, Affinity Photo uses Procedural Textures to create similar Perlin noise effects, however we do not support applying these to mask layers currently, so equally I don't believe this to be possible. On 5/7/2021 at 1:25 PM, alienfruit said: https://texturelabs.org/tutorials/art-history-brush-photoshop-tutorial/ The Undo Brush Tool in Affinity allows you to paint from other 'history' points (known as Snaphshots in Affinity) similar to the History Brush Tool in PS - however as you've mentioned this isn't possible to replicate in Affinity currently as we do not have an equivalent to the Art History Brush. I hope this helps alienfruit 1 Quote
alienfruit Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Sorry for the slow reply to your helpful message! I had my birthday and been taking time off from the computer Thank you for taking the time answering my question and the time to go through the tutorials and whether they are possible to be achieved in Photo. Looks like I had higher hopes for some of the tutorials I am going to try out the halftone tutorial based on your video now! Do think these are nice tutorials that TextureLabs makes maybe the limitations you have listed above (e.g. use perlin noise with masks) will become possible in the future! Besides of that I really enjoy using the Affinity products. Dan C 1 Quote

We absolutely hope to continue to improve and add new features to the Affinity apps, you're certainly not the first customer to request this functionality so I'll be sure to add a 'vote' for these to our internal improvement log which our developers use to influence upcoming versions. We're glad to hear you're enjoying using the apps as much as we enjoy making them Quote
