cliffetzelphoto Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 A fellow photojournalist colleague and I are looking at using iPad Pro's as replacements for laptops for our mobile darkroom devices. We are wondering about printing from these devices from Affinity Photo - what kinds of printer settings can we control? He uses higher end Canon printers and I use Epson printers with Cone Color Inks and their fine art papers for fine art digital printing. Is this something that can be done or is it a better solution to do all printing from desktop versions? Quote

You can set colour profiles, paper type etc within AP settings (see settings below). For output, AP relies on iOS print manager which of itself has few print controls. That being said, it is possible to switch from iOS print preview to a Share sheet to select a dedicated printer app (if your brand provides one for ios) by zooming in on the preview. I'm not sure that is a well known feature, but I find it very useful. From the share menu you can then select your printers dedicated app (eg in my case Epson iPrint). I'm only using an ET3700 eco printer but I go from no control to having access to paper trays, print quality, etc. Your options may be better or worse depending on how well the dedicated app supports your specific printer in iOS. I don’t do high end printing but hopefully this example gives you some idea of how to expand the default print limitations within iOS. chbrier 1 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
