Martin S Taylor
Hi: I have a Canon TS8350 printer-scanner. If I use it to 'Acquire Image...' in Affinity Photo I can scan documents directly into Affinity. However, the box which allows me to control the parameters of the scan (resolution, image size, etc.) has an option for Image Correction. If I use this box to correct the image using the scanner software (or possibly MacOS), Affinity scans the image but then immediately crashes. Consistent and repeatable. Staff Chris B Posted May 5, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 5, 2021 Hi Martin S Taylor, Thanks for the report. It looks like we have got a log of this already so I will update it with your thread. Martin S Taylor
I don't know if this is the same bug, but scanning at 200dpi doesn't work – or rather, it produces weird results which other scanning programs don't produce. See the attached file. Martin Scanning bug.afphoto
loukash
Not sure if this is the same bug either, but Acquire Image doesn't work for me: Scanning still looks OK: The result doesn't: No problem with Image Capture: … or Preview: … and their respective results: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w via AirPrint, APh 1.9.4.242, El Capitan Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
Wilfred Hildonen
Most definitely a bug. Trying to scan in 300 dpi black and white, using my Epson ET-2710 series combined scanner/printer, causes the entire program to crash.
Staff Chris B Posted May 10, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 10, 2021 Does disabling Hardware Acceleration make a difference? It's a long-shot but I'd be interested to see if this is interfering with the rendering as I'm not sure if other apps use HA. Martin S Taylor
Turning hardware acceleration off makes no difference. I get a similar result to Wilfred Hildonen, but only scanning in Black and White at 200dpi. Other resolutions, and colour scanning are fine. However, it won't scan at all if I set the scan to 'Text': "Scanner reported an error An error occurred during scanning." No problems using Image Capture. Staff Chris B Posted May 11, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 11, 2021 Thanks all. I will feed this back to the developers. Can you attach the crash reports for me too, please? Milan M.
I have the same problem with Acquire Image when scanning from the CanoScan LIDE 400. There is no problem with the LIDE 220 scanner, it scans flawlessly. I need to use Image Capture to scan from the LIDE 400. iMac, Catalina 10.15.7, Affinity Photo 1.9.
