jonilo
Hey. I'm not able to work with affinity photo because it freezes the layers after 1 - 2 minutes of working. Everything else works fine but I can't do anything with the layers. I have to close the program and start it all over again so I can work another 1 or 2 minutes before freezing. I find Affinity very good program but this feature really bugs me. Any helps? A little video here. It wont show the picture but as you can see I can't even select the layer. Thanks! 2021-05-05 08-54-59.mp4
Staff Chris B Posted May 5, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 5, 2021 Hi jonilo, Welcome to the Affinity Forums So the tools work? As in you can paint on the canvas? I can't see becuse the canvas is hidden. I can't say I've seen this before and I've asked around the team and nobody else has seen it. Can you install the beta and see if you get the same issue with that? jonilo
Thanks for the answer. I can't paint or do anything with the canvas. Menu works fine, I can start new project etc but canvas/layers/tools are not working. I'm using free trial now so I cant test that beta. Staff Chris B Posted May 5, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 5, 2021 Ah I missed the [Trial] bit - sorry. Can you confirm if you are using a tablet of some kind? Or if you're using a Surface etc. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
jonilo
Hi. No tablets or surfaces. It works fine when I create new project. It starts freezing when it reaches that "certain" point. Everything is fine if I keep my photo editing sessions short.

RichardMH
I've noticed something like this happen but infrequently. Maybe once or twice. The cursor seems to get stuck in brush mode.

Staff Chris B Posted May 7, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 7, 2021 Does zooming in/out redraw this @RichardMH? Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
RichardMH
It does. It won't save the image. Sometimes I have to use Task manager to shut it down after it does this. Log.txt is full of error messages. (I'm using the beta) Don't have the problem with OpenCl acceleration turned off. Doesn't happen all the time. Log.txt Chris B
RichardMH
FWIW if I open curves when it locks up the line is missing and there is no layer. Still won't save the image but it would close it and exit this time. Log.txt
walt.farrell
Perhaps you should go to Preferences, @RichardMH, and at bottom of the Performance tab try disabling Hardware Acceleration (OpenCL).
