pjglad
I open a raw file and then select the Overlay Gradient Tool within Develop Persona. I then click and drag. When I release the mouse button the Crop Tool Button is highlighted and the Crop Grid appears on my image. Why is that?
Staff Leigh Posted October 20, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 20, 2015 I'm not able to replicate this. Have you always had this issue or is it a recent thing?
pjglad
I purchased/installed Affinity Photo a few days ago. It is installed on my iMac and MacBook Pro both running El Capitan. Yes, I have always had this issue on both my iMac and MacBook Pro. My camera is a Nikon D7200.
Staff MEB Posted October 20, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 20, 2015 Hi pjglad, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Press and hold ⌃(ctrl) while launching Affinity Photo, then select Clear from the dialog that will appear (this will reset the app). Does it solve the issue for you? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
pjglad
Yes it resolved the issue. Thanks.
pjglad
Actually (Press and hold ⌃(ctrl) while launching Affinity Photo, then select Clear from the dialog) this is not a permanent solution. It works, but if you relaunch AP then the issue prevails.
pjglad
Should I post this issue in Bugs?
Staff MEB Posted October 21, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 21, 2015 Hi pjglad, No, it's not a permanent solution, it just helps to clean up some conflicting config/setting that may be causing issues. If it's happening again then it's probably a bug, however i'm having difficulty reproducing it here. Can you attach a sample file that's giving you trouble please? pjglad
This issue is universal with all my photos. I shoot with a Nikon D7200. Here is a dropbox link - https://www.dropbox.com/s/kpc3s5a3khmlapg/Test.NEF?dl=0 As an FYI, I downloaded some sample .nef files from the internet and all these files exhibit the same issue. Hence, it is not an issue unique to my camera.
Staff Leigh Posted October 22, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 22, 2015 Thanks for the file. I've opened your image in the RAW persona but i'm not able to replicate your issue. When you open your RAW image do you make any adjustments before selecting the Gradient Tool?
pjglad
Sequence: 1) Launch Affinity Photo 2) File/Open any RAW image 3) Select Overlay Gradient Tool then click drag and release At this juncture the Gradient is replaced by the Crop Grid and the Crop Tool is highlighted. I then click on the Overlay Gradient Tool and the Gradient reappears. This behavior is consistent on my iMac and Macbook Pro both running El Capitan 10.11.
Staff MEB Posted October 22, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 22, 2015 I'm still not able to replicate this too. Which input device are you using? A wacom (or other) tablet, mouse or trackpad? Do you have any third party menu apps running in background (window managers, clipboard managers etc.)? pjglad
I found the problem. There is a conflict between Affinity Photo and Popclip which is a menu app. So, what is the next step? Should I submit a bug report as this is a very useful utility? Thank you for your help!! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/popclip/id445189367?mt=12 https://pilotmoon.com/popclip/ Leigh
Staff MEB Posted October 22, 2015 Staff Share Posted October 22, 2015 Hi pjglad, You can add Affinity Designer/Photo to the Excluded Apps list in PopClip (fourth tab in the PopClip menu). To do it click the plus button to open the file chooser then select Affinity Photo from the list.
