Geraldine007
Hi I've just purchased Affinity and I'm using Youtube tutorials to teach myself how to use. It. I'm learning about Overlays. When I add a gradient overlay the whole image turns red (Linear). I'm familiar with Overlays as for years I used Photoshop. I've watched a number of Youtube videos and this doesn't happen in any of them. Please help. I'm using an iMac.
Staff MEB Posted May 4, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 4, 2021 Hi @Geraldine007, Welcome to Affinity forums I'm not sure i understood you. Are you saying that after dragging the tool - let's say from the top of the image to the bottom on canvas - the whole image becomes equally red rather than fading from red to transparent? Note that after applying the gradient overlay you must go back to the Basic tab and change/apply some adjustments to see their effect on the image (the red overlay will be hidden at that point but the changes you perform will only affect the are marked by the red overlay). h_d
I don't suppose you've accidentally dragged both handles of the gradient off the image area? Geraldine007
Thanks for you reply. I just clicked the gradient overlay icon and this is the result. I didn't touch anything else.

Geraldine007
Thank you for your reply. I'm using Magic Mouse. I've just deleted the app and reinstalled and it's now fine.
