GMC1969 Posted May 3, 2021 Share Posted May 3, 2021 Hi everybody Not new to Affinity (used also Serif Software long ago 😊) but new to the forum. I signed in for the forum, because I have exact the same problem as described in the thread. I did everything that was suggested in here ... nothing helped. It even got worse. Last Version that was installed on my computer was V1.9.2 ... The only way I could resolve it, at least for the moment, is that I remembered, that it definitely was not like that, when I bought the software and started using and exploring it and after hours trying, I reinstalled the first version that I have again and that is: V1.8.5.703 ... Right away the problem disappeared. And I do have to add, that the problem is not in the newest Affinity Designer (V1.9.2) but I do not know about Publisher, as I do not use Publisher at the moment. Staff Dan C Posted May 4, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 4, 2021 Hi @GMC1969, Welcome to the Affinity Forums We're certainly sorry to hear you're having trouble, as the thread you posted in was a specific crash relating to a users custom Colour Profile, I suspect the cause of your issue is different, so I have split your post to a separate thread. Please endure you are 'Following' the thread in the top right if you wish to be notified of replies - I can confirm that version 1.9.0 introduced OpenCL Hardware Acceleration on Windows - which as it's in it's early stages has been known to cause issues for some users. To resolve this, please try the following: Update your GPU drivers: Please visit the manufactures link below to download the latest driver available - - Intel: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html - Nvidia: https://www.geforce.com/drivers - AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-driver-autodetect Note: you may need to go direct to your PC manufactures website for the driver, if you see a warning regarding 'OEM drivers' when trying to install one from the above sites. Once downloaded and installed, please restart your computer, then continue below. Reinstall the latest Affinity update: In order to test the new GPU drivers we'll need to get 1.9.2 reinstalled, you can download a new version of the app from the link below -https://store.serif.com/update/windows/photo/1/ Test with/without Hardware Acceleration: Once you have reinstalled 1.9.2, please launch the app and try loading an image - hopefully this should open correctly for you. If this does not work, please navigate to Edit > Preferences > Performance within the Affinity app and then untick Hardware Acceleration at the bottom of the dialog. Restart the app as prompted and then try loading your image/document once more. Please do let me know if this helps!
