Resizing with distortion Affinity Designer

Dear Affinity Designer users,

how to resize a project without distortion on iPad?

Below you can find attached 2 versions of an image. The 1st one is correct, 2nd is distorted after resizing canvas.

@EwuszkaDoes the same occur if you resize the Document instead? Is the design made up of just brushes strokes (vector/pixel)?

Yes, the same happens when I try to resize the document. This illustration is made up only by vector brushes 🙂

Do any of the brushes you used have texture? If so they are not true vectors.

could you attach a sample afdesign file for testing🙂

Of course, here’s the file. Please help. I need to know how to resize illustrations properly for further prints in different dimensions. Thank you in advance 🙂🙏

Using resize to half the original size and then resize again to return to original size.

Not to confuse but as Alfred points out you can use multiply and divide characters to simplify calculations 😁

Not that it should affect the outcome but I’m curious to know why you didn’t let the app do the arithmetic!

Half of the original size: ÷2
Return to original size: ×2

To be honest mate, I rarely resize and didn’t even think about it. Certainly a better idea though as I struggled with the maths anyway😂

@Alfred I was unable to resize canvas without it also resizing the Document. I know you can do this in Photo. Is it not possible in Designer, or is it because it’s an Artboard?

Thank you 😊 it works but if I want to resize canvas too? The original size of the document and canvas is 210mm x 297mm. Let’s say I need to make it bigger to 297mm x 420mm. How to do this?

If it's the same as with the desktop app: you can select the artboard and resize it.

• But first, ensure the "scale with object" propertie of each strokes is checked.
• Select your artboard, select the Move Tool, and uncheck "lock children".
• Select the Artboard tool, and resize the artboard.

If you don't have any artboard, resize using "document setup".

I see the same here: ‘Resize Canvas’ in AD only works with a canvas, not with an artboard.

At the moment it appears that you need to manually resize the artboard. In files without Artboards you select canvas rather than document and it works. Not so with an artboard (bug?).
